My name is Sheila and Chris is my baby brother. And my baby brother needs help. On Sunday, June 26th Chris was critically injured when a tree that he was taking down in his yard fell on him. Something went wrong, and resulted in the falling tree landing on top of Chris.
He was rushed to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay where it was determined that he had broken ribs, a punctured lung, and fractured vertebrae. On Monday, June 27th he underwent an over 5-hour surgery to stabilize his spine by fusing his vertebrae from the T-11 to the L-3/4. Chris has been in tremendous pain. There is a concern for pneumonia as the pain in his chest is excruciating, making it very difficult to complete the necessary breathing exercises. The intensity and length of his recovery are unknown. How this will impact his overall mobility is unknown.
What is known is that Chris is a carpenter. He and his brothers (my brothers) own and operate Puyleart Brother's Construction. As a self-employed business owner and a father of five young children, his circle of support outside of the business and family is small. We don't know what his insurance coverage will look like or the extent of his recovery.
This young family does not need to be concerned about seeking the best and most comprehensive care for Chris. Chris needs to know that his family is being cared for. All funds raised will do one of two things: 1) provide directly for Chris's medical expenses and recovery needs, including potential rehabilitation, etc. 2) provide the family with funds for expenses directly related to Chris's recovery and income loss.
