WE NEED YOUR HELP
We've been at Anmed in Anderson with Chris since July 11th. The initial ER visit was for an unknown cause of intense swelling, pain, and gastric discomfort. All they could see on CT scans was inflammation of the small intestine. After being admitted to the hospital he started to drastically swell with fluid all over his body and increased pain.
On the 25th they then performed a procedure to drain fluid from his abdomen to relieve pressure from his lungs, improve breathing, and avoid pneumonia. When they did this they discovered intestinal contents filling his abdominal cavity. The Dr's immediately sent him off for emergency surgery. The Dr's not only did repairs but removed about 14 inches of his small intestine that was "dead" and detached.
He has since been in the ICU with many ups and downs with no definitive end in sight.
We have received overwhelming emotional support and prayers, as well as many hot meals brought to the ICU waiting room. We are extremely grateful!
While we do not know the timeline of recovery, what we do know from the Dr's is that Karen's presence now, and care-taking role in the future is essential. In order to fulfill this obligation, Karen will be taking leave from work until Chris' stability and strength is regained at home.
We want to be straight forward. The reality is: life (bills in particular) don't have a pause button. So, we are calling on our strongest, most reliable resource: The Body!
ANY help whatsoever is HUGE! The support raised here will go directly to necessary living expenses that would otherwise likely cause severe financial hardship for Chris & Karen.
With all of the burdens that accompany an extended hospital stay and eventual recovery, removing the weight of financial struggle would be an invaluable gift. Thank you all in advance for the support, love, and prayers!
