Hi, my name is Chris, and I'm reaching out to ask for your help in supporting my father, Jim, during one of the most difficult times in our lives.

My father, Jim, is in late-stage dementia. Over the past two years, I’ve been his sole caregiver—cleaning the house, cooking his meals, taking him to every appointment, managing his medications, and doing everything I could to keep him safe and cared for at home.

Two weeks ago, things took a devastating turn. He had a fall at home and couldn’t get up. He was found hours later and taken to the hospital. The fall has significantly worsened his condition and his doctors have told me that he now requires full-time, specialized memory care.

To make things worse, coincident with the fall, my dad flooded the house in a moment of confusion, and it is now uninhabitable. The home is his only asset, and I’m doing everything I can to get it ready to sell—but that will take time and involve legal complications and fees. There is no liquid money available to cover the urgent costs of care he needs right now.

He needs to be transferred directly from the hospital to a memory care facility. But memory care is extremely expensive, especially in the Bay Area. I’ve been looking at more affordable options in places like Modesto and Stockton, where the lowest rates still start around $6,500/month.

Funds raised will cover:

First and last month’s memory care fees.

A deposit to secure placement in a facility.

Legal and administrative costs related to his care and home sale.

This is very difficult and humbling to ask. I’ve always tried to take care of things myself. But I’m physically, emotionally, and financially overwhelmed. I want to give my dad the dignity and care he deserves in this stage of his life.
