Chris Needs a New "Bean"!

Chris, loving husband to Tara and father to Owen, was diagnosed with kidney disease 10 years ago. He remained stable throughout the last 10 years until fall 2020. 

As an airline pilot, he’s required a physical biannually, so he’s been on top of his health year after year. He began feeling “off”, so he made a doctors appointment. 

His labs showed that his kidneys had taken a major drop in function, and he was admitted to the hospital for a week in November 2020. He was flushed with fluids in an attempt to lower his creatinine level, and avoid starting dialysis. The fluid flush helped, but never returned his levels to normal. 

He was, however, able to return to work/life and avoid dialysis as long as he could tolerate his symptoms. 

As 2021 progressed, dialysis became more and more inevitable. He began the process of kidney transplant evaluation with Froedtert in Milwaukee in March. He’s finally done with all of his appointments/consults, and can have volunteers call in to see if they’re a match to be a living kidney donor. 

While this is a huge relief and step in the right direction, there is still much to be done. As one might imagine, the expenses associated with treatment, finding a donor, and having the transplant when the right donor is found, are innumerable. 

There is only one thing besides his family that Chris loves with a passion, and that is flying. Due to the severity of his health condition, Chris is currently taking a leave from the job he loves under doctor's orders. This loss of income is just one more weight added to this heavy burden placed on the Nesbit family's shoulders. 

Chris is loved by SO many. While he would never ask for help, or expect anything from anyone, he deserves it. We may not all have an extra "bean" lying around that we can share, and we certainly won't all be a match. However, we can all send a little love his way in the form of a donation.
