As you may already know, we unexpectedly lost our friend and coworker, Chris, this past Tuesday. Chris was like family to many and had a great way of working with everyone, sharing his love of food, cooking, and animals. He had an enormous heart filled with compassion. I have the privilege of being friends with Chris both at work and outside of work. Many people are reaching out to do something to help. I spoke with Jess, his wife, this morning, and she is doing her best to get through this difficult time. When I asked if there was anything we could do to help her, she said everyone has been great, and she couldn't think of anything.
I had an idea. Several months ago, Chris and Jess, had to put their dog down and it was a very painful time for them. They had not gotten another dog yet as they were going to wait a little bit. Well, God had other plans for them and for Mitzi. A couple of weeks ago, they were driving near Lennox in Columbus when they saw a dog running in and out of traffic. Of course, they pulled over, and Chris caught the dog and took her to the vet to see if she was chipped. She was but number was not in service any longer, so the dog went home with them and seemed like she had been there forever! Chris told me on Monday that Mitzi, as they named her, had already imprinted on his soul. She is part Shar-pei and has some vision issues due to skin folds, which will require surgery costing around $2500. I thought it would be a great idea if we could collect money to put towards Mitzi's surgery in Chris's honor. I know he would be humbled by this and very happy. I ran the idea by Jess, and she was grateful and said Chris would feel the same.
