Chris King Motorcycle Crash Victim

Donation protected
On Sunday, July 21st, Chris and I were on a relaxing ride on our motorcycles. We were traveling on Rt.149 in Weare, NH. We were doing everything right, not speeding, not under the influence of alcohol. We were simply taking our time enjoying the ride escaping the troubles of the day.
In the process of negotiating a curve on the road, Chris struck a loose piece of asphalt. This caused him to veer off the road, down a slope and into the woods. Where both his body and Harley struck multiple trees. Fortunately I witnessed the crash an was able to locate him fast. I found him on the ground and the emergency services were contacted immediately.
His lungs had collapsed and was treated by the ambulance responders. He was brought to Concord, NH hospital. Here they put him into a coma because of multiple spinal fractures that pose a risk to the spinal cord. He was medflighted to Brigham and Women’s in Boston, where he remained in the icu in a coma/intubation for the better part of 3 days. He is expected to be in the ICU for about a week. Chris has suffered 8 fractures in his spine. 6 of which are in the upper back and 2 in his neck. This has cause issues with his spinal cord. This is directly affecting his ability to breath properly. He is still struggling to keep his oxygen levels at a minimal level. It is still unknown how much his body will be affected by the accident. Spine injuries are very complicated and can take a turn for the worse fast.
Chris is now conscious and remembers what happened. Unfortunately due to not having any income he did not have full insurance on the Harley. Only liability coverage. He has a very minimal amount of health insurance coverage provided through the government, as his work place did not off any sort of health insurance.
Chris has recently been out of work for the past 8 months due to a working injury of his shoulder. He was doing some heavy lifting on the job when his shoulder gave out and caused a hernia as well. He tore his shoulder muscles off the bone. He has been undergoing months of surgery and therapy with no job or any other source of income. Struggling to make ends meet and fighting to receive compensation for the shoulder injury at work, he had been forced to sell some of his assets. This included 2 of his beloved Harley Davidson motorcycles. Liz and myself have been doing all we can over these past months to help him get by. Is being in our mid 20’s we could only do so much to help. Purchasing groceries, paying some bills. Over this time Chris has been depressed of course due to not being able to do anything from surgery and financials. Getting out on the motorcycle was something he has been waiting so long to do waiting to recover from surgery.
He had only recently over the last week been able to ride because of his shoulder. He told me that riding his motorcycle is one of the only things he takes pleasure in over this down time in his life. It is unfortunate the thing he couldn’t wait to do again is the very thing that nearly took his life.
Chris is going to need all the help he can get in the future. He was unable to fully support himself before this accident. His family and myself are going to do everything we can to help him. We will try to provide our home to him to take care of him in the first months of recovery. Unfortunately it’s not going to be enough. He is going to need so much financial assistance. And this is where this campaign comes in.
We are asking for any donation you and anyone you wish to share this with can afford. The goal is starting small to get things going. Hopefully with everyone’s support we can achieve some sort of income that allows him to afford the continued medical attention and certain therapy that is sure to follow months if not years after.
We are trying our best to keep everyone updated on his condition. Please keep him in your thoughts and your prayers along the way. We still need our “Crazy Uncle Chris” around in our lives.
