From Chris....
So, this post is to let people know what I have had going on these last few months. Some of
you already know, but most of you do not. I
have cancer. We are not sure what type of
cancer it is at the moment, but most likely
stage 4 lymphoma or renal cell. REALLY
hoping for lymphoma. We have a biopsy
scheduled to determine what it is. We have
already done x rays, ultrasounds, MRI and PET SCAN. This all started out as what I thought
was a back injury. That turned to a shoulder
injury. Then a knee injury. Then my hip
decided it wanted to join the party too. Needless to say it was pretty "uncomfortable". But, I
am doing better now that the pain is starting
to be managed. After the biopsy, treatment
will be started ASAP. And while the
treatments for each are basically polar
opposites, the one thing they have in common is that they F***ing suck! But I have never backed down from a fight before(even if I should
have). And I'm not going to start now. We
(mainly my amazing wife and her coworkers)
have been assembling an amazing team of
caregivers. We didn't care for my first Dr. so
he got canned, and my wife's coworkers found me a new Dr. and she is amazing! We have an oncologist at Stoddard and he is great! I would like to thank both of them for squeezing me in so quick and for hitting the ground running!
Beyond the professionals, I have a great
support team of family and friends! You have all been great and I am humbled by your
support and offers of help! I have my 2
wonderful children to keep my spirits up and
to continuously inspire me to fight. But, most
importantly, I have my wife! Without her, I
would be completely lost and seriously
overwhelmed by all of this. This is just as hard, or harder, for her. And, she has continued to
be my rock, my soft shoulder, and my biggest
advocate. As I have become more and more
restricted in what I can do, she has picked it all up. More cleaning, more dishes, more kids,
going with me to dr. appointments. All while
still working. Thank you, I love you more than a fb post can convey! So, when you leave well wishes for me, please include her and let her
know just how awesome she is! Comments,
messages etc. are more than welcome and
appreciated. But please understand if we don't respond. Thank you all, in advance, for your
love and support! Hug your kids extra tight!
Tell those around you, how much you love
them! And remember to get out
there and live!
