Healthcare worker in Trauma ICU after car accident

I am sick of tragedy over the last months, as I am sure, are all of you.  Yet, there is more.  This is Chris Raymond.  One of the most competent and gracious emergency department secretaries with which I have had the honor of working.  He is an honest, hard-working gentleman with the ability to effortlessly diffuse angry patients and pacify disgruntled physicians.  His laid-back personality is soothing to our high-strung environment.  He has actively fought to get us through this pandemic.  For the three years that Methodist the Woodlands has been open, Chris, and his counterpart, Toni, have kept our chaotic ER from crumbling to dust every night.  He has been an agreeable and integral member of our team.  His commitment to the health care team reaches back to Houston Northwest Medical Center, where he served there in the ER for many years.

We have permission from his family, to post today.  Privately, he is the primary caregiver for his elderly parents.  His mama has advanced dementia. Chris drives down to Houston most days after a night shift to care for them, or to fill in the gaps when his hired caregivers cannot make it.

Last Friday, Chris was in a car accident.  He was making 1 of these visits to his parents and was hit by another vehicle while making a left-hand turn.  Prior to him being taken to the hospital emergently, he called in to work to let us know that he would not make it in for his scheduled shifts.  Now, he is downtown in the trauma ICU.  He has suffered a broken back and neck, as well as some abdominal trauma. Emergent abdominal surgery already completed. Back surgery done. He remains intubated. His aunt reports some level of spinal cord injury and at this point we are waiting for him to heal. My gentle friend has a long road ahead.

His landlord was approached and in curt response, we were told that his rent is still due on the 1st of the month. *angry face*

I was asked to organize this on behalf of my friend and coworker.  There are many who have asked to donate to this wonderful man, and I am happy to make that means available.  He is a fine gentleman who deserves none of this. :(

Please keep Chris your prayers--please pray for his full physical recovery.  Pray for his parents and his aunt as they deal with all of this.  Pray for his coworkers as we brainstorm on how to lift him out of this mess.

Please select "other" in the tip area and type in "0" to make sure Chris gets the most from this fundraiser.  I feel I have taxed your generosity in your bank accounts this year, but this is necessary.  Many $10 donations add up quickly.

Also, please share this link if you are willing.

I have been blessed with access to many generous and selfless givers.  I hope you are blessed tenfold for all you do and give.
