Chris Greene Heart Valve Transplant x3

Hi, my name is Kelly and I am lucky enough to call Chris and Sara Greene some of my best friends. For those of you who don't know, Chris underwent his first open heart surgery at the age of 19 to have his aortic valve replaced. Several years later he suffered from several strokes which indicated failing of his valve and the need for another open heart surgery, and for Chris to receive a new aortic valve. This valve has lasted him 15 years however, Chris began showing symptoms of heart failure shortly before their son, Luke's 4th birthday, in December 2022. It was determined that yet again, Chris would require a new valve transplant and open heart surgery. Due to Chris' case being so complex from previous heart surgeries, and now being in heart failure, he turned to world-renowned doctors in Cleveland, Ohio for help. Chris is scheduled to undergo his 3rd open heart surgery/aortic valve transplant on March 2nd, 2023 in Cleveland, Ohio. It is unsure at this time exactly what his long-term prognosis is however, we are hopeful that this new valve will give him his quality of life back.

For those that know Chris, you know he would do anything for anyone. He is one of the most caring, and genuine people I have ever met. He never asks for anything and is always the first to be there for everyone else. That is why I am coming to you asking for help. Chris and his wife Sara have two perfect little boys, Luke (4 years old) and Jaxson (23 months). With the surgery coming up, they are trying to keep the boys' lives as normal as possible, especially not knowing the long-term plan for recovery given the risky procedure.

The out-of-pocket expense for the surgery/hospital stay is estimated to be around $13,000. Additionally, they will have to pay for lodging and flights so that Sara can be in Ohio with Chris. Chris has a job, which he loves however, as we all know, short-term disability is only a portion of your pay. Chris is expected to be out of work for a minimum of 3 months. Additionally, Sara who works part-time to be home with the boys has very minimal PTO and will have to miss approximately 2 weeks of work to stay at Chris' side post-surgery. Chris and Sara would never be willing to ask for help, so I am here to ask on their behalf. My goal is to give them enough money to have some cushion so that they can focus on Chris and his healing, meanwhile also maintaining normalcy for the boys. Money however is not the only way they could use help. For those who are not able to contribute financially, but still want to help, there are so many areas where they could use it. I will also be setting up a meal train upon their return home from Cleveland. Secondly, yard work/lawn work will still need to be done as we move into the Spring, for at least 2 months. Third, any help with the boys would be much appreciated, even if it is just for playdates or so that Sara can get things done around the house. Lastly, and most importantly, I ask you to please keep Chris, Sara, Luke, and Jaxson in your thoughts or prayers. They are such an amazing family, and I hope we can all shower them with so much love during this difficult time. Chris is so strong, and we know he will get through this! I will also use this website as a place to provide updates on Chris' surgery/recovery moving forward. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Thank you all for loving this sweet family, and for keeping them in your thoughts during this time.
