As most of y’all know my dad has been in the hospital since July 1st. Back in June he started having severe stomach pains and went to the ER 3 time and was told it’s just acid reflux and looked like some infection . Scheduled him for a endoscopy and said everything looked fine and took a few biopsies and was told to follow up with GI. The following day after his endoscopy he was in extreme pain and running a fever , went back to the hospital and was told he was septic and needed emergency surgery since he had a perforated bowel.
They took him back for surgery and ended up having to remove over half of his small intestines. A few hours later he ended up having two strokes hitting each side of his brain. Thankfully only paralyzing his right arm. The following day he had to go back to surgery to remove a blood clot that was found in his carotid artery. He did good for a day and then the next day ended up having to go back into another surgery since his bowel had another leak. At this point his surgeon told us if there were any more dead bowel they would just have to close him up and make him comfortable as possible . Thankfully, there was no more dead bowel and they were able to fix the leak which also lead to them having to do a ostomy. And he came out on a ventilator to let his body rest. Two days later he had what you call abdominal compartment syndrome ( everything was swelling and had no where to go) so they had to go back for a 4th major surgery in a week to open his stomach back up and leave it opened and every 48 hours they had to take him back to the OR to flush everything to make sure everything was still good and not dying.
Finally, stable again they were able to transfer him to a local specialty hospital for follow up care until he was healthy enough to have his stomach closed . He was there for two weeks and long story short an incident happened and he had to be transferred back to the previous hospital to ccu where he ended up coding due to his hemoglobin being 3.4.. ( anything under 6 requires blood transfusion normal levels at 13-14) .. he’s doing better . However, he is still going to have to go to a long term rehabilitation/ hospital for another 4-6 weeks  and then get transferred to Gainesville to Shands hospital so they can hopefully close his stomach and reverse the ostomy bag .

So, after all that , we’re making this because he is unable able to work and has went from a 2 income house to now down to a 1 income house . Friends and family have helped out as much as they can . And unfortunately with Chris just starting a new job he didn’t qualify for short term disability or unemployment benefits . They have filed for disability but as most know he has to be approved for it and it can take up to 6 months to even get approved.. with all this being said , they’re needing some additional help as bills are starting to come in and get behind due to only my mom working . Mom my will have to pay the extra expenses when he’s transferred to Gainesville to stay with him there .. Her work has been amazing and helping her as much as they can. However, she has had to miss days and leave early to be there for Chris so her checks aren’t like they normally are. Me and Justin help with what bills We can to help out . Every little bit helps even if it’s a dollar or sharing the post . They didn’t want to make one of these until we pushed her into it because we don’t want them to suffer in silence.. they have been through so much just in the last two months . I also plan on making her a PayPal or cash app since some people don’t feel comfortable with giving money to this organization since they make a profit from it .

We just appreciate all the love and prayers everyone has given. We ask to keep the prayers coming as he still has a long road of recovery left ❤️
