Christopher T. “Chris” Gibbons, 52

Longwood – It is with deep sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Christopher Thomas “Chris” Gibbons due to COVID on August 11th, 2021. Chris was born in Waynesboro, PA to Robert “Bob” and Jane Gibbons on March 11th, 1969, and after a number of Army directed moves arrived in Orlando at the age of 11. Chris attended Evans High School, Orlando, FL and following graduation joined the Army like his father. Interestingly, Chris served in one of the last US infantry units to physically patrol the DMZ in Korea. Following his honorable discharge from the Army he attended and graduated from UCF with a degree in Organizational Communication.

Chris was an avid sports fan, actively supporting his hometown Knights and although Art Rooney never called him up to the league to play tight end, he was a life-long Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He loved the outdoor life and spent many happy hours boating, fishing, and at the beach. Chris was that rare man that made friends easily and for life. In fact, he remained very close with many of his high school friends. He was smart, generous, loyal, funny and humble. He was always ready to help anyone at a moments notice. Above all though Chris was known for his unshakable and inexhaustible love for his sons Ethan 17 and Blaine 14.

Chris is survived by his parents, his sons Ethan and Blaine Gibbons, his former wife Michele Gibbons, brothers Todd Gibbons and Stephen Cinq-Mars, and his sister Michele Coyne. He is also survived by nephews and nieces who adored him and numerous friends and family touched by his generosity and love. He was predeceased by his brother Robert F. Gibbons, Jr.

A service for Chris will be held at Annunciation Catholic Church, 593 Jamestown Blvd., Altamonte Springs, Fl, 32714, Friday August 20. 2021 at 10am. Following the service we invite all to come and share remembrances or stories of Chris among his family and many friends at a celebration of life
