On October 10th, Chris French was in his second horse wreck of the year. He is president of the Backcountry Horsemen and was out with his fellow riders clearing the B-Light Trail in Salmon, ID. Chris, in front of the other riders, was bucked off. He hit his head and suffered trauma to his upper back. Karen French took him to the ER and found that Chris’s vertebrae number c7 is broken and he has a concussion. Treatment is still pending an appointment in Idaho Falls.
In June, he was doctoring a horse for my husband and I, out of sheer kindness and care, when she reared back and ripped a log pole out of the corrals. It snapped back and hit him in the ribs. She reared again and the pole came back into his head. He was life-flighted from Steele Memorial to EIRMC with a collapsed lung due to broken ribs.
Chris French is a dedicated rancher. Anyone who works in or near agriculture knows that this has been a bittersweet year. Many ranches in the valley have gone without water on their land and rough rangeland for their cows. We had to make a lot of adjustments to the way we function. Each year comes with its new worries and struggles. We adapt, but that doesn’t mean it’s always easy.
Chris has great determination and doesn’t let anything slow him down. Even though Chris and Karen appreciate everything life gives them, we know they are struggling. So, here we are, knowing they need a little more good in their life. We setup this fundraiser to help raise money for all his medical expenses. We found out that the entirety of the life flight bill is not covered. He also has bills from two other hospitals. In a year like this, when it’s hard for everyone, it’s tough to ask for donations but if you can, it is so greatly appreciated. If not, please say a prayer for our family.
Thank you all!
