On October 18, 2021, Chris Zubek (age 36) husband of Isabella and father to beautiful Paulina (2 years old) received devastating news. Chris was diagnosed with…

High Grade Stage 4 Large Cell Neuroendocrine Cancer.

 

This aggressive tumor showed no symptoms until Chris felt stomach pain. After receiving an X-ray and CT scan in the ER, Chris was immediately admitted to the hospital for further testing. A biopsy of the colon and liver revealed the Cancer had already spread significantly throughout these organs.

 

The Northwestern Hospital colorectal surgeon informed Chris this type of Cancer could not be surgically removed because of the stage in the Cancer cycle and how aggressive it had become so quickly.

 

As you can imagine, this chain of unexpected events has been devastating news to everyone, especially his beloved wife and daughter. Chris is one of the most loving and generous people in this world. He would do anything for anyone!

 

 

After rounds of doctor visits and scans, the oncology physician at Northwestern Hospital recommended Chris begin aggressive chemotherapy as soon as possible since this is life-threatening.

 

Since November 2021, Chris has been under the care of Northwestern Medicine Oncology. Chris has undergone several rounds of chemotherapy since his diagnosis and most recently tried immunotherapy but there have been some complications.

 

During this challenging time, the power of prayer from family and friends has been incredibly meaningful and appreciated by Chris, Isabella, and Paulina! The Zubek family needs all of us now more than ever to support them in Chris’s fight. The Zubek family is starting to experience significant medical bills for chemotherapy treatments, hospital visits, and diagnostic imaging.

 

Both Chris and Isabella are doing the best they can to stay positive and have both continued to work through the majority of this journey. However, they would greatly benefit from the ability to take time off together for an extended period, maintain their energy levels to fight Cancer, and enjoy time as a family with their two-year old daughter.
