In Memory of Chris Duncan

Donation protected
We are so sad to share the news of Chris Duncan's death from colon cancer on Friday March 21, 2021. He died peacefully in the arms of his college sweetheart and wife of 14 years. Kathryn and Charlie (Chris' doggo), are heartbroken. He was 38 years old.

All are invited to attend Chris' memorial celebration on Sunday June 27th from 1-4pm at Highland Park Community House at 1991 Sheridan Rd in Highland Park, IL. Lunch buffet provided. Come from 1-2pm for stories about his life, words of comfort, and live music in his honor, and then stay to celebrate his life with music, food, photos, fun, and games (there will be Star Trek and Lego tables, of course).

Chris was my brother-in-law, and one of the sweetest, dorkiest guys I have ever met. Chris noticed things. Like the fact that your particular iPhone model had a battery recall, or your car cabin lightbulb was out, or your back left tire pressure needed to be checked. And he was then the guy who would grab your keys and (without anyone asking him to) FIX ALL THE THINGS. And while he was at it, he'd clean your headlights, or help reconfigure your router, or sit on hold with Verizon for two hours figuring out the family data plan. And honestly, I think he genuinely liked it: doing nerdy things, and just generally being a useful human for the people he loved.

He was obsessed with all the dorky Apple, Star Trek, RV (Oliver) things, and he took our merciless teasing like a champ. He was our family tech support ("Sorry Kristen, it might be a User ID-10-T problem..."), doggie dad, and the love of Kathryn's life. He was the primary breadwinner, always encouraging my sister to pursue her career in music. And while she now has a great full-time job in a supportive community at St. Gregory's, I know that he worried about how she'd make it without him (financially, but also see above re: routers, and car stuff). We have had many requests from friends hoping to both help alleviate some of the financial burden of the past three years of medical/living expenses and relieve future financial stress, and that's why this GoFundMe exists.
