Chris Dontigney needs emergency surgery

Our Mom, Chris Dontigney needs your help right now, in the most urgent way. On Friday, September 9, Mom was seen at Bellin Hospital for severe abdominal and back pain. At first, doctors suspected gallbladder issues, but quickly realized that a tumor on her kidney was to blame. With some testing, doctors found a blood clot and life threatening concerns with Mom's vena cava.

The medical system has provided her with medication to keep her comfortable, but it has literally taken acts of God to get Mom transferred to the appropriate hospital with proper medical care. When Milwaukee agreed to take her, the ambulance companies refused transport, without a $4000 down payment because of Mom's lack of insurance. $4000 almost kept her from the emergency surgery that could save her life. We have no idea what other dollar amounts may keep her from the medications and treatments she needs, but we predict her bills to reach $100,000 in no time.

Five children call her Mom, and we have given her 18 grandkids between the five of us. Twenty three lives depend on her to be the matriarch of this family, to keep everything together when times get hard.

Our dad, who has been by her side for the past 32 years, is devastated. He isn't ready to give up and continues to want to spend every waking minute with her. That means that he will need a hotel close to her hospital, meals, and money to cover his temporary loss of income while he is at the hospital with her.

We don't know when the surgery will be scheduled or what the road ahead really looks like, but we do know that the road will be easier if it is affordable.
