Chris DiSaverio Corneal Transplant.
Donation protected
Christopher has been diagnosed with a bad case of the eye disease Keratoconis. It is predominantly in the right eye. If the disease is left untreated it will lead to blindness. The sooner we can get this treated the less destruction of the eye there will be. We have insurance but we cannot meet the deductible (Yes our insurance is iffy at best and we are a low income family) and there will be other cost which will be involved in the surgery to correct it. At first we were led to believe that Collagen cross linking would fix the problem. However on the first visit to the the specialist we were told that Christopher will now need a Cornea transplant in the bad eye and Collagen cross linking in the better eye. We are revising our goal to reflect the greater cost of this surgery plus the more frequent doctor visits associated with this procedure to monitor the corneal sutures.
