Medical expenses for Chris Cross
Donation protected
My name is Mandy Ferner and I’m asking for help for my brother Chris Cross as he has had some serious health problems causing him and his wife Rylee to miss work travel 2+hrs each way to be with Chris in the hospital. Family has made the trip over to help with Briar their 1 year old son. We are asking for any help, shares and prayers as we still have no answers as to why his health has deteriorated so quickly. These funds will go to help with medical expenses, travel expenses (fuel, hotels, food) possible boarding expenses as they have 4 dogs at home. Here is an overview of what they have had to endure so far. 5/18/23 Chris went to the emergency room after over a week of abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, night sweats, trouble urinating, intense itching-he also started turning yellow. They did a MRI, CT which didn’t indicate any masses or lesions on the liver. It did show inflammation of the intestines, pancreas and liver. He also had LOADS of labs done- which were less encouraging. His kidney function was low as well as his liver. At that time he was admitted for 3 days. During his stay they had a GI Specalist Team working with him. They did an ERCP to make sure there weren’t any blockages in the gallbladder or bile ducts they missed in the imaging that could be causing a blockage….. during the ERCP they clipped the sphincter muscle of his gallbladder to make sure it wasn’t restricting bile flow. They also tested for a bunch of viral illnesses and more serious conditions. After 3 days he was discharged and needed to schedule with a Gastroenterologist. 6/1/23- Rylee called Gastroenterology to see if they received his referral and try to get Chris scheduled. During the conversation the nurse reviewed his outpatient labs from his hospital follow up appointment last week and told him to go back to the ER immediately. 6/1/23- He was readmitted due to worsening symptoms - his bilirubin level is continuing to trend higher. His bilirubin level is 4 times higher than when he was discharged. his spleen, pancreas, and intestines are also inflamed and his kidney function is decreased”/2/23- He is scheduled to have a liver biopsy today to determine what is causing his bilirubin to continue rising.
