Hello,
We are the Goodman family. We have two kids; Isaiah, a two year old boy and Eva, an eight week old little girl. My husband has type 1 diabetes. In the last year he has had a number of very high levels and very low levels. He has been hospitalized a number of times because of this. It is very damaging to his body and extremely dangerous to his well being.
There are new technologies available today though, that would help him know a normal life, such as a device known as the continuous glucose monitor. Basically, a machine that would automatically check his blood sugar every 5 min. It then wirelessly sends data to smart phone for graphing and tracking trends, then alerts him if he starts diving low, or soaring high. This could dramatically change my husbands ability to manage his glucose levels with awareness.
We just want him be healthy and happy as well as present and available for his children.
This meter is not covered by insurance because it is not considerded a necesity. The money raised will be used to buy the meter, 1x1 training , and all the supplies needed for a year.
Although he'd never let you see it, but time is crucial here. The more times he has these large dips down and spikes through the roof... the more exponential the damage becomes.
This would mean so much to me, my husband and my little kids. My kids want their dad to be around and be healthy.
Diabetes does not have to be a terrible thing but it is a very serious disease. This would help us to keep my husband as healthy as possible and to keep him out of the hospital in serious conditon. It will create a way for us to keep his levels consistent and therefore in a healthy range.
Help spread the word!
