Chris Ciancio

Our beloved friend, coach, and mentor Chris Ciancio passed away in the early hours of August 5th, 2023, whilst on holiday with his wife, Margaret, and daughters Ginevra (4y.o.) and Fiorenza (2y.o), in Italy.

Chris has impacted the lives of hundreds of athletes over his career as a weightlifter and coach.

Those who knew him knew at least 3 things about him; firstly, he was as authentic and honest as any man could ever be. Second, he was passionate and intensely knowledgable in weightlifting, and thirdly, above all else, he adored his 2 beautiful girls and partner, Margaret.

Chris's nature was to be selfless and do what he can to protect those he cared about. He did that for many of us in many ways, big and small, over the years. It is because of this that we (The Westbourne community) are committed to honouring him and stepping up to protect, provide for and support his family, and are asking the broader community to assist in any way they can.

We ask that you please donate any amount to help bring Chris home to Australia and help support his girls, Ginevra and Fiorenza, and his partner Margaret.
