Christine & Christian´s Fundraiser for Cool Earth

We (Christine Pickering & Christian Haase) need your help: we are undertaking the Rickshaw Run Himalaya in August 2025 (more about that later) to raise money for the UK-based charity Cool Earth, and we’d love for you to be a part of this project!

Cool Earth works to protect rainforests around the world and address the climate crisis through backing Indigenous communities — the people who live in and best understand these remote rainforest ecosystems. To date, Cool Earth has protected 2.1 million acres of forest, from the Peruvian Andes to the Congo Basin.

Cool Earth is also the partner charity for the Adventurists, who are self-proclaimed chaos-mongers “fighting to make the world less boring.” We turned 40 (I won’t tell you when) and, in our midlife-crisis-fuelled mania, decided to sign up for the Adventurists’ Rickshaw Run — Himalaya edition. From August 12-23, we will be heading to India for a 50-team rally with only three rules:

1. You get from Point A (Leh, Ladakh) to Point B (Jaisalmer, Rajasthan) on your own, with no support — in 12 days, we’ll need to drive 2,000 kilometres, from the Himalayan mountains to the desert with no GPS, no Internet, and no hope.

2. You must drive a totally shite vehicle — in our case, a rickshaw whose estimated horsepower is nope.

3. You have to raise at least £500 for Cool Earth.

And this last point is where you come in. The funds raised here will go directly to Cool Earth (not a penny will be used for our Himalayan insanity, which we are funding completely on our own). Your support means the world to us, and even $5 can go a long way. Your donations will be used to purchase Inga seeds, plant trees, provide children with quality education, give rainforest communities access to clean water, and more. And you’ll be part of a people-first, global project with real impact.

In the meantime, we promise to keep you updated on our adventures in India (through email and social media). Be on the lookout for all sorts of rickshaw-related mayhem, whether it’s a flat tire in the middle of a boulder-infested riverbed or a herd of goats blocking our path to Himalayan glory.
