Family and friends are posting this fundraiser on behalf Chris Burns. Chris was on a production in the Bay Area when he began having severe symptoms and was rushed to Stanford Hospital. He was diagnosed with fourth stage Hepatic Liver Cirrhosis. This affects almost all of his body's systems. It causes a low platelet count which prevents his blood from clotting. Because of the low platelets, he is not a candidate for surgery for the gallstones which he has just developed or any other surgery. Portal hypertension and water retention are among many additional hazards.

The only way Chris can return to a normal way of life is a liver transplant. Without it the disease is incurable. He is an excellent candidate because of his age, prior good health, and stable family situation. BUT there is a waiting list of at least 6 months or more. Transplant and recovery will have to be done in Salt Lake City, It could also bring new, unforeseen medical complications. At the moment he has a team of doctors who are trying to stabilize him so that when he is eligible for a transplant he will be a good surgical candidate.

Chris's condition makes him unable to work for the foreseeable future. Our family has already spent weeks in Boise and chipped in money to help hold things together. To see him suffer as a result of this devastating and life-threatening illness is heartbreaking beyond words. So, we are reaching out on his behalf for support. Any amount, no matter how small will make a difference. Chris has a lot of friends, and so does the Burns/Wonacott family. We are confident that many people will welcome the chance to help and that our campaign will make a real difference in heading off a financial crisis on top of the medical one.
