Chris Dever Burned Out of Home and Job in the Eaton Fire
Donation protected
Some friends of the sponsor go as far back as the 1970s when I had taken a hand in helping to raise son Christopher, one of then-wife Rosalyn's boys. Here's Chris's message in his own words:
"I had moved from Pasadena to Altadena for the beautiful mountain setting only a mile from Eaton Canyon. The day after my 61st birthday, I was out when word came that the Eaton Fire had struck. It turned out that the park-like setting of my home was the fire’s delight. Those who know me know that I'm the sort who likes to look on the bright side. While the man-made structure is missing, some of nature’s trees still live. And although my belongings were consumed in the fire (uninsured due to the high cost of insurance for fire damage in L.A.), the cats were saved and I am safe, en route to Asheville to crash for a bit at my mom's place while I reconnoiter. The Altadena hairstyling shop where I worked was consumed in the fire also, so I'm not only out of house and home but out of work. All of this presents an occasion for a new beginning that will involve searching for, furnishing and setting up a new home and finding a new job. Any help in tiding me over would be much appreciated – and that includes positive thoughts beamed my way. Please be safe and be well. Life is good. -Chris"
