Chris Buffett Lymphoma expenses

Donation protected

Last August I was diagnosed with a type of Lymphoma.  To this day they are not sure exactly which type of Lymphoma it is.  I started chemotherapy right after Labour Day.  The treatments started to work right away and the big bump I had on my cheek went away after just one four day session of chemo.

i had to go in hospital for 4-6 days at a time for my chemotherapy treatments about 2-3 weeks apart.  Around the first of December they did another Catscan and found zero evidence of cancer.  The protocol called for more chemo and so we continued.

I ended up back in hospital 3-4 times with various issues, the worst being pneumonia and I was in for 16 days during that stay.

The past couple years have been rough, work was slow out west.  I went through a separation.  Moved to town.  I was lucky enough to get work in May and only worked until July (because of my diagnosis) but that was enough to qualify me for disability benefits until December ONLY.  My drug benefits, I had to pay $284.00 per month out of my own pocket because they terminate (employer paying for them) when you’re not working.

So, December 22nd my disability benefits terminated.  End of February my drug benefits terminate.  I could only extend my drug benefits for 6 months.  Luckily most of my expensive drugs are done with (7 needles after each chemo costs $1855.00).

I applied for EI sick benefits 7 weeks ago and that has not yet been approved.

So, I am in a position I’ve never wanted  to be in.  Zero income for almost two months.

I don’t like asking for help.  It’s a man thing I guess.  However I see plenty of people starting these go fund me pages for people with various illnesses and emergencies so I guess I shouldn’t be ashamed or embarrassed to do the same.

I am recovering nicely and the Doctor will reassess me for my ability to go back towork in April.  I just need some help to get me to that point.

Hopefully I will eventually get the EI situation straightened up and that will sustain me hopefully until I get back to work.

Any excess funds or if I get EI straightened up, will be donated to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center

I humbly thank you for any assistance you may provide.

Cheers from Team DFWB
