Chris Bucknam's TBI Recovery Fundraiser
Donation protected
As you may know, my brother Chris had an accident on February 6th when he fell from his unicycle while riding near his home in Goffstown, NH. A good samaritan immediately called 911, allowing the EMTs to arrive quickly. Chris, rushed by ambulance, arrived at a Manchester hospital unconscious. He was then intubated and admitted to the ICU. Unfortunately, he suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and was put immediately into a medically induced coma.
Chris is an adventurous soul and can chat it up with anyone, so to see him this still and this quiet is formidable. However, Chris isn't a sitting-still kinda' of person. He's quite the opposite, so I know he's fighting with everything he's got!
Chris loves to be active. He is an Amazon Delivery Driver and enjoys many extracurricular activities and hobbies. Chris enjoys quad-biking, bicycling, skydiving, hiking, surfing, and attending Anime Conventions, to name a few. He puts 100% into everything he does and loves to share his creative talents with his friends. In addition, Chris loves to dance at raves and can even spin LED lights and fire sticks!
Most importantly, Chris is a loving, honest, hardworking person with a big heart, always willing to lend a hand. And I'm most proud of that big heart of his as his sister (and his friend). Friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, and his cat, Katie, all love Chris. Chris loves right back, especially Katie, who is being lovingly cared for by Volkrov until Chris is back home.
As much as we hope for and look forward to Chris's recovery, we are realistic and realize we have a long way to go. Since the accident, Chris has remained in the ICU, where he has undergone multiple surgical procedures to address the immediate complications and more minor treatments needed as issues arise.
For over a week, we (myself, his loving partner, Volkrov, and our families) seemed only to hear bad news. It was excruciating. But, with your love and prayers, we found the strength to hold it all together for Chris, regardless of how much we were suffering for him. I cannot express the difficulty of facing something like this. But finally, seeing Chris' progress and feeling he's moving forward is the hope we needed to keep holding us together. So please keep those positive vibes flowing into the universe!
Community means everything at a time like this, and I am reaching out to you, my community, for support. Unfortunately, we do not know the full extent of Chris' injuries nor estimate his rehabilitation. However, we can see the cost of living and the cost of not having an income in such a situation. Therefore, I am asking for donations to support Chris and Volkrov. Anything you can contribute means everything.
With the warmest and most humble appreciation, my family will update family group texts when there is something appropriate to share. I'll update this page regularly, as well.
Please continue to pray and provide your love and support, as this is undoubtedly helping on many levels.
It would be greatly appreciated if you contributed another way, including gift cards (i.e., gas, restaurants, groceries, Uber Eats). If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thank you all so much.
