Meet Chris Beck, a 42-year-old Bloomington, Illinois resident. Family and friends called the Beck family in a panic late on Tuesday, September 2nd, to report that Chris Beck had been in a serious motorcycle accident and had been rushed to the emergency room, where he was placed in the intensive care unit. Due to his severity, he was then sedated and put on a ventilator. Since then, he has resumed breathing on his own, although the latest MRI differs greatly from the original one which has undoubtedly spread concern. After being called in, a neurologist concluded that he is experiencing a traumatic brain injury (TBI) due to an excessive amount of blood and swelling surrounding his brain. He is hardly able to open his eyes but is responding with small foot movements and breathing on his own, but it has been difficult to keep him calm once the sedation has worn off, necessitating more medication to prevent further injury or yanking out any IVs. Due to the lack of balance he will have and the many other TBI issues that are likely to arise, doctors have stated that there is little to no chance that he will ever ride again. We are all trying our hardest to be supportive, but as everyone is aware, the bills won’t wait for him. This father of three has always done his best to make others happy through his constant acts of kindness and nonstop efforts to stay active at work and even picking up side handyman jobs and lawn services. As his son, I can tell you that this man is constantly on the go. He has never paused in his efforts to improve his family's quality of life, and he has only put in endless effort to provide us the greatest life possible. He has two daughters, a son, a stepdaughter, and a stepson all of different ages who have depended on his hard work to keep them afloat. Regretfully, the time has come for us to keep him afloat so that when he returns home to face his new life, he won't have to worry about the bills. Once more, no one deserves this, but he in particular does not deserve it. He has worked harder than most others to give his best each and every day, and he means more to some than anyone could ever know. Everything donated will be used to cover the lost work hours and future expenses that he will ultimately have to deal with once his new perspective of life is reality. Updates are to come but prayers are needed more than ever, we thank everyone for the support during this life changing journey.
