Chris and Valerie's Wedding Charity Registry
Donation protected
To celebrate the start of our marriage, we would love to raise funds for a few of our favorite charities. Each of the charities we have chosen are very close to our hearts and are doing so much good in the world. The organizations are: 1) Charity Water, 2) Voces Vitales Panama: Programa Las Claras, 3) Uncle Neil's Home, 4) Sisu Refuge & 5) Movimiento De Conciencia Animal. Descriptions and links below. Our plan is to split the funds raised evenly amongst them. Thank you in advance for helping us help others in need.
1) https://www.charitywater.org/
Charity Water is an organization that is on a mission to help bring clean and safe water to every person on the planet. The water crisis affects nearly 1 in 10 people. It especially affects women and children, keeping children out of school and women from earning an income due to the hours they must spend walking to collect water. Not only this, but many times the water they spent so much time collecting is carrying diseases that make everyone sick. Charity Water is changing communities by implementing safe water-collecting solutions, tailoring each solution to best fit the place where they will be installed. For Valerie's 26th birthday, Chris donated $26 to them as a birthday present for her. Almost 4 years later, he has continued to do the same every single month. The company where Valerie's engagement ring and wedding band come from donate 20% of their profits to Charity Water and is one of the reasons they chose to support them.

Project Las Claras, through the organization Voces Vitales Panama, is a program that helps low-income, pregnant teenagers and teenage mothers overcome the challenges that derive from having a child at such a vulnerable age. In Panama, 30% of pregnancies are teenage pregnancies and 75% of these women stop going to school altogether. Las Claras helps these girls finish high school & reach their goals, provide childcare, provide mental health counseling, provide developmental aid and stimulation for their infants, and provide sex education for other adolescents in order to prevent unwanted pregnancies.

Uncle Neil's Home is a small farm sanctuary located in Bridgeton, New Jersey. Named after their dog, Uncle Neil, the founders decided to purchase a farm and turn it into a safe haven for rescued farmed animals. Their mission is to rescue as many animals as they can and give them a lifelong home while advocating compassion and kindness for all. They are completely donor-funded and currently have 35 animals under their care including cows, chickens, ducks, goats, sheep and turkeys. Chris and Valerie plan to start volunteering for them after the wedding.

Sisu Refuge is a small farm sanctuary located in Duplin, North Carolina. Much like Uncle Neil's Home, they too purchased a farm and turned it into a safe haven for rescued farmed animals. The refuge mainly rescues pigs, most of which are piglets that were rescued after falling from transport trucks between facilities or are factory farm pigs that were abandoned after Hurricane Florence wreaked havoc in the area and were subsequently found barely surviving in the neighboring forests. Currently in their care, they have 60 large-breed pigs, 2 potbelly pigs, a kunekune pig, and 2 bull calves.

Movimiento De Conciencia Animal, or MOCA, is a new organization making a big impact for the animals of Panama. They rescue dogs and cats from cruelty cases and other high risk situations, working closely with local police to do so properly. They then provide the animals with medical treatment and shelter until they are able to be put up for responsible adoption. They also educate against the mistreatment of animals through protests and online education as well as encouraging people to speak up and report abuse.
