Have you ever heard of a concerto about a bird pooping on a boy’s head?
Well, maybe not.
Is it a good idea to write such a silly concerto?
I haven’t asked myself those questions but I have finished writing it.
No bird or human is harmed in my concerto, so I’m not raising money to pay my bail. However, I’m asking you to help cover some of the costs of the props used for the performance.
My name is Riko and I am a recorder and composition student at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. For my final year project, I not only wrote a recorder double concerto but I am also delivering a concert. And it will be livestreamed.
The concert is on Friday 11th April at 6 pm (GMT) in Recital Hall, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. The programme includes my recorder solo piece “Scottish Folklore Suite” and the violin and recorder duet “Fantasy for Violin and Recorder” as well as the recorder double concerto “Chris and the Foofoo Bird”.
It will be premiered by internationally renowned recorder player Chris Orton and RBC student Felicity Lennard and conducted by me.
This is a theatrical piece, packed with fun, suitable for children as well as grown-ups.
The fund raised here is used for buying the props such as beanbags and the bird costume.
If you don’t live in Birmingham and can’t make it to the concert, you can still enjoy the concert on livestream. I’m asking you for help and I’ll guarantee the fun in return. Your donation will be a vital role for me to deliver a successful concert. Please consider supporting generously.
Thank you.
