Chris and Samantha's Infertility Journey
Donation protected
Hello, we are Chris and Samantha Pettit. Let us introduce ourselves and how we came to this point in our infertility journey. I know this is long, but we want you to know why we are asking for your help.
We first met in January 2016 and have been in love ever since. We both knew that each other was "the one" from very early on and so we started to plan our life together. In 2018, we bought and moved into our first house together and started the process of fixing it up, with the help from family and friends. During the next 2 years, we lived and learned about each other and life in general.
Then, Covid hit....and after a 14 day quarintine in late July 2020, Chris proposed and of course, I said yes. During the planning of the wedding, we decided to TTC (try to concieve) because we thought it may take some time, mainly because I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome).
We were married September 25, 2021, and just a few weeks before the wedding, I talked to my OB/GYN about some additional medication to help concieve. Thats when I started to Take Clomid. We tried that for a few months along with TTC, and then I was also put on Metformin to help ovualtion production, still with no progress.
The next step in our TTC journey was to go to PREG in Greenville, SC. Initial bloodwork was done and then we put together a plan. We found out that my thyroid was underactive and I was prescribed medication for that. I also started Letrozole in conjunction with the "trigger shot" for IUI (Intrauterine Insemination). Our first IUI was Aug 19, 2022 with no pregnancy. Our second IUI Sept. 19, 2022, with no pregnancy and our 3rd IUI was Dec. 30, 2022, and still with no pregnancy. We scheduled a consult with our Reproductive doctor and discussed options to move foward.
Which brings us to here. Basically, because we have unexplained infertility, there is no way to understand what is going "wrong" within my body without IVF because of the constant monitoring and lab input. So we are asking for help to cover the cost of IVF, which is, at its lowest, $20,000 with medications. Although we have insurance provided by Chris' workplace, it does not cover any type of inferitlity treatmens. our IUI's were $900 each (out of pocket).
I know times are tough and if you can't give or don't want to give financially, we do ask that you please send positive thoughts/prayers and share the link so that we can get our story out there. We appreciate all the love and support.
Thank You Sincerely,
Chris and Samantha Pettit
