Chris and Mary Semler

On March 17th, 2023, Chris Semler, a marine, Vietnam war veteran, and retired city police officer of 24 years, was in a horrific car accident. The event landed him in the Shock Trauma Hospital of Baltimore, Maryland.

Chris suffered many severe injuries, including, broken hips, sternum, pelvic bones, leg, ankle, and shoulder injuries. He also has multiple fractures to his spine. Chris cannot stand, walk, or sit up. He can only be moved manually by a patient lift apparatus and is confined to his hospital bed.

Chris cannot receive any surgeries for his injuries due to a chronic heart condition. He will take months to recover in a rehab facility, located far away from their home. Chris and Mary currently have no mode of transportation since the car wreck and are struggling to afford a rental car due to insurance issues.

Mary Semler, Chris's wife of twenty-four years, is devastated by this tragedy. She has not left her husband's side and has even taken a leave of absence from her job to be with him everyday. This has left them experiencing many financial difficulties regarding, health insurance coverage, travel expenses and household expenses.

Chris is a loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is the most selfless and compassionate person you could ever have the gift of meeting. He truly lights up a room and would give you the shirt off his back if you asked. He has a tight-knit family who is devastated by what he is going through. Chris is in good spirits and ready to fight for his recovery. He is already making progress with physical and occupational therapies and is determined to get back home to his loving wife and family!
