Help Chris and Izzy following house flood

Some of you will already know, but for those that don't, we are Chris and Izzy Watkins and we live in Peterchurch on the family farm with our 3 children (14, 8 and 3) with another on the way. 12 months ago we moved into our self build after 7.5 long years. We had a long battle with planning, a complicated build, Covid delays and price increases stretching our budget by 60% to contend with. On the morning of 24-Nov-2024 we woke to find just over a foot of water in our house, we have been very lucky compared to some people we know, but we have lost a lot. Due to not being signed off by building control we were unable to get home and contents insurance and therefore have no cover. We have finally assessed all the damage and worked out what items we have lost. Thankfully the walls, electrics and and the carcass of our kitchen has survived. We have not been so lucky with the washing machine, drier, dishwasher, flooring, 2x doors, most footwear, electrical items and almost all of Chris's power tools as well as our industrial generator. We have totalled up what it will cost to replace everything and it has come to a staggering £7000, which is unfortunately completely beyond our means. Therefore we are making this request for financial help .We haven't taken making this request lightly, we know that everyone is feeling the pinch financially at the moment and that Christmas has only just been, we understand if people are unable to give. We are both proud people and usually find a way to resolve our own issues, but we just cant see how we can resolve this on our own.

Finally thank you to everyone who offered help, to Mat our tame electrician for checking our electrics and then staying to remove all the skirting boards, to Mike for using his days off to help move things and remove the ruined flooring, to those of you who lent us de-humidifiers and to Lucy for helping with cleaning.
