Chris and Becky Perkins' Dig Deep Fund
Donation protected
After careful communication with my parents, I am setting up this fundraiser as a general support fund for them. After fiercely battling multiple cancer diagnoses for the past four years, my dad's fight is nearing its end. Now under hospice care, he is able to spend his last days in peace and comfort at home with his loved ones, ensuring that his wishes are being supported.
While navigating the cancer journey, my parents also experienced foreclosure on their house in January. They were able to find stable housing and had about two months to settle in before the pandemic kicked into high gear. Without too many more words, this year has been extremely financially challenging. My goal with this fundraiser is to provide a financial cushion for end-of-life expenses for my dad, and a buffer for my mom after he moves on. I have set a goal of $7,000. This goal will cover funeral expenses, rent for 3 months, storage fees(items stored during foreclosure) for 3 months, 3 weeks of unpaid time off for my mom(some of which would make up for time already taken off), and will also cover some overdue bills that have accrued amidst the chaos of the year.
Many in the community will remember my dad as the guy carefully combing over the toy shelves around Christmas for hours to find the perfect items to purchase and donate to local children. This is just one anecdote of a devotion to giving to the greater good, the larger community. It is this spirit of generosity that I am hoping for my parents to share and receive now. Anything you can give will be going directly to my mom's ability to be present with my dad in the coming days, ensure that what he wants and deserves is being provided or fulfilled, and will also help support her through the coming weeks. Thank you so much for reading, thank you for your contributions and support, and please share if you can!
