Chris Scott, the “Miracle Man”,

Donation protected
In October of 2014, Christopher Scott suffered a massive heart attack at the age of 43. Fortunately, doctors were able to revive him four (4) times. Unfortunately, this was the start of his 5 year health battle for him. Chris had mutilple follow up surgeries as a result if he heart attack. Thankfully, Chris made a semi full recovery after his heart attack and was able to go about living his life to the best of his ability.

That was until he was diagnosed with aggressive Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD) about 2 years ago. This agresssive COPD resulted in Christopher needing oxygen 24/7 and a wheelchair to cart around the oxygen. As a result of the removal of his intestines, he lost valuable nutrients that caused him to gradually lose his eye sight over the last 2 years. Last year, he had to leave his house and move in with his parents so they could look after him.

Unfortunately, this past year was a rough one for Chris. He spent most of the months in and out of hospitals and rehabs, due to his aggressive COPD. He was a candidate for a lung transplant as long as he could walk 30 steps. He accomplished this task, slowly but surely but sadly doctors came to the conclusion that a lung transplant would be too much of a strain on Christopher and predicted he wouldn’t survive the surgery. Although Chris’s chances of new lungs slowly diminished, his hope of recovering never did. In the months he spent in and out of hospitals and rehab, he never once gave up trying to better his walking abilities. Never once stopped fighting against the COPD that caused every breathe to ache. Never once did he stop helping people.

Sadly, these last 2 months were extremely tough for Christopher. He spent 3 out of 4 weeks in the hospital/rehab. He started losing feeling in his legs due to untreated spinal stenosis. Although doctors had a good prognosis for treating his spinal stenosis, they felt his heart and lungs wouldn’t be able withstand such an extraneous procedure.

So back to rehab Chris went but not without his never ending positive outlook. The newest rehab he was in had an ice cream parlor and if you knew Chris, you knew how much he liked his ice cream (and his pizza, candy & cupcakes)! He was able to get himself a few cups of ice cream a night and even bought 8 of his nurses ice cream cups. That’s Chris for you, always thinking of others even in his time of need.

Sadly, Christopher lost his battle with COPD at the age of 48, on Tuesday August 20th, surrounded by his family. He is now at peace after the toughest, strongest 5 year battle. Please consider donating whatever you can.
