Please help Jose Cruz (38) an Insurance Sales Agent and Gloria Cruz (37) a middle school Math Teacher pay for Chemotherapy and Medical Expenses by making a monetary contribution or sharing their fundraiser on your social media.
In December 2019, Jose Cruz’s oncologist congratulated him on being in remission for 10 years. Less than a year later, in November 2020, he was diagnosed with cancer in his lungs. Doctors performed various tests and imaging to determine if this was a new cancer or if it was from his original cancer in 2008.
After a colonoscopy and a PET scan, on December 11, 2020, Jose and his wife Gloria were given the worst news of their lives. Jose was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer that had metastasized to his lungs, liver, and abdominal lymph nodes. His oncologist stated that this cancer is non-curable because of the various locations it had already spread to and that he would likely need to be on chemotherapy for the rest of his life. He added that based on statistics, the life expectancy with his type of cancer and spread is 1 to 5 years. There’s about a 75% chance of surviving 1 year, dropping about 15% each year, and about 14% chance of survival past 5 years.
As you can imagine, this news was devastating on many levels. To add to the stress, their double income household had already been on a reduced income since September 28, 2020 because Gloria was on medical leave after having a major surgery, a three level Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion . Now both of their incomes have been significantly reduced due to both being on medical leave, but their medical expenses have consequently increased.
Any support would be greatly appreciated by the Cruz Family.
Thank you!
