Our precious darling, Chomper (named after the land before time), needs your help.
Those of you that know Rex, know that Chomper is their entire heart and soul. For the past 4 years they have been inseparable. Hiking every week, taking monthly visits to the dog beach, going on camping and road trip adventures, and spending lots of time with Chomper’s other puppy friends for play dates. Chomper has always been an incredibly sweet, happy, and healthy pup and is adored by everyone who meets her.
During the first week of January, Chomper started to get really sick. During a walk one day she threw up multiple times and had issues with diarrhea. Initially the vet thought it was simple colitis and Chomper was put on a bland diet to help her recover. Unfortunately, the problems continued to persist and worsen over the weeks. For the past 6 weeks, Chomper has continually had issues throwing up, having diarrhea, and with food absorption. In this short time, she lost 4 pounds and shows regular signs of stomach pain (obsessively eating grass and having lower body shaking).
After 3 vet and specialist visits, multiple blood tests, stool samples, an x-ray, diet changes, medication, and an ultrasound it’s been determined that Chomper has some type of bowel disease. There are several possibilities for what she may have that range from inflammatory bowel disease all the way to cancer. The only way to know what she has is to get a biopsy which involves putting her under anesthesia in order to do a full endoscopy of her intestines. From the results of the biopsy, we would be able to move forward with the appropriate treatment to get Chomper back to good health.
The cost of the biopsy procedure is estimated to cost around $3,000. This is on top of the $2,500 that has already been spent on her ongoing tests and care as well as the cost of her treatment following her diagnosis.
Of course, this is a great cost on its own. Compounding this is the fact that Rex has also had severe health issues since October, leaving them unable to work full-time, so financial costs like this have become even more unmanageable and tough. We just want our Chompy girl to be okay.
I call upon your help now, to support my sibling Rex & our beloved Chomperina - Rex has had Chomper since she was 8 weeks old and she instantly melts the hearts of anyone who meets her. We would be devastated if anything happened to her, and we so so appreciate any offering you can give to support Chomper's diagnosis & recovery.
It truly means the world, any amount helps - thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts <3
