Chloe's Hospitalization and Long Term Care
Hello, my name is Chloe, I am a 5-year 8-month-old mini poodle. I have been hospitalized in the ICU for the past 5 days with Canine Immune Thrombocytopenic or ITP. ITP is an autoimmune disease that has caused my immune system to attack my platelets, leaving me prone to spontaneous bleeding with no way to stop it. It can surface after tick bites, vaccinations, or like in my case, for simply no reason at all.
My family brought me into the animal hospital and were told that my recovery would be a marathon and not a sprint; needing to wait 5-7 days to see if my body could begin making platelets again. During the past week I have been hospitalized, requiring multiple blood transfusions, medications, and constant care. I am hoping to make it home with my family, and if I do, I will require weekly blood tests and additional medications. I love my family so much and am fighting to come home to them because I know how much my family loves me and have been giving me every chance to fight this disease.
Everyone who has met me immediately falls in love with me. In their words, I am "kind, loving, therapeutic, gentle, smart, adorable; and a sweet sister, daughter, granddog, and friend."
In this challenging time, I am not alone. Your donations, prayers, and uplifting words are lifelines that raise my spirits. In gratitude, 10% of the total donations will be directed towards aiding other animals and pets grappling with health challenges. Together, we can turn the tide for not just me, but for those sharing a similar journey.
Here are some more pictures of me before and during my illness.
