Chloe Griffin Memorial Scholarship Fund
Donation protected
Hello. Our names are Jayce McKenna, Beau Williams, and Sofia Imitola. On September 23, our beautiful best friend Chloe Griffin (they/them/theirs) passed away. Just about a week after their 18th birthday, a family and community of people were devastated. Chloe was outspoken, beloved, kind, amazing, and talented. They spent their time creating art and making the people around them smile. As a little group of four high schoolers, we lived through our own unique coming-of-age high school movie. Aside from pure love, the main thing that brought us together was theater. Our story began in the blackbox of our high school and continued miles outside of it. As queer theater students of color, our experiences as theater students were drastically different from our cisgender, heterosexual, white counterparts. While we faced a good amount of adversity, we embodied the beauty and joy of all queer theater kids of color. Chloe, as a person, actor, and artist, embodied the beauty of theater and art. They inspired countless peers around them to live in their truth and be their absolute best selves. The LGBTQ+ community in our town would not be the same without them. They were constantly pushing the boundaries of what we “could” and “should” do as students, and we cannot respect them enough for it. As a result, we have decided to create the Chloe Griffin Memorial Scholarship Fund. This fund is created to financially aid the queer theater and art students of color of our time. Prior to the official release of the fund, we are asking for donations in order to create as big or as many scholarships as possible. The money donated will be directly added to the scholarship fund. Thank you for your time and support. Chloe, we love you more than words can explain.
