Chloe Allen-Boat Accident- Oral Surgery
Donation protected
On July 17 Chloe was a passenger in a boat. She was riding on a beanbag in the center of an aluminum boat. As they were going around a curve the boat she was riding in, collided with another boat head on. The other boat came on top of the boat she was in resulting in several injuries:
Her two top front teeth were knocked loose, lost lateral and k9 teeth , fractures to alveolar maxilla, nose and cheek, lacerations to face, Torn acl and meniscus, fractured left foot and broken toe.
Oral maxillofacial surgeon in Florence reinplanted her top two front teeth and splinted alveolar maxilla (bone that olds your teeth in)
Chloe is currently in physical therapy for her knee. Foot and toe are healing.
After being referred to several surgeons that were unable to treat her injuries. Finally, Dr Wards office emailed a surgeon at Chapel Hill. They were told it could be months before she got an appt. Thankfully they got her on the schedule in about two weeks!
She is going to UNC Dental for her future treatments which include: root canals and crowns of teeth damaged in the accident.
Chloe will have to undergo reconstructive surgery to her maxilla due to bone loss when when her teeth were knocked out. They will take bone from her jaw or hip depending on the amount needed.
While we wait on healing and bone formation she will be fitted for a flipper (partial plate) so she will have temporary teeth.
These are the appts scheduled as of now. Chloe will be scheduled for reconstructive surgery after healing of root canals. After that healing she will begin the process for implants.
October 8- endodontics for root canals
October 26-periodontics
October 26- prosthodontics
Unfortunately her insurance has denied claims for this needed surgery. Anything you can give will help this family so much!
