Chiweenie is a sweet little senior rescue. Here is his recent story:
We found a small growth on his neck in May, which after getting biopsied, rapidly swelled and stopped him from eating. After spending weeks bouncing between vets and tests, he was operated on a few weeks ago, when one practice said they knew what was wrong (Hint; they didn't, even though we had asked them to look into mucocele presence). A week after surgery, he was back to where he was, but with an additional lump and more discomfort.
We had to take him to yet another vet last Friday to get checked up and they drained the site (that the previous vet said to ignore…), bringing him relief! But then had to take him to Sage urgent care on Monday since the soonest booking was still weeks out and his appetite/energy was gone again.
One said that the lump was from chafing/rubbing and to let it ride out; the next day, a doctor pulled almost 80cc of fluid from the same spot and wondered why it hadn't received attention yet…
We have been run around the block for weeks, and had our time, money, and patience all completely wasted. It took us taking him to an emergency room for him to be taken seriously/assessed properly. He was discharged at 2 AM, but the doctors finally gave us an answer, and were able to plan a surgery date on the books for 8/3 to remove a mucocele/duct.
There's more love for this little guy than he could ever know. Vet costs to date are around $4,000 over the last few months, $1,000 for a pre surgery X-Ray, and next weeks operation was quoted at $6,000, which requires an overnight stay.
All in all we'll be in a little over $10,000 by the end of the ordeal, and we are doing what we can to make this happen.
He will have costed the same as my current and last car together, but I know he has so much life and love left to give...
Donations are 100%, obligation free, and completely optional. Any form of support is so incredibly appreciated, every dollar and kind word. <3
