Chito's Journey To Beat Cancer
Donation protected
It is with a heavy heart that I write this post. Our beloved Eliseo "Chito" Garcia served as a Wildland Firefighter and Arson Investigator for nearly three decades with the US Fish and Wildlife Service. To say this was the only thing he did for the service would be a lie. Chito was a jack of all trades. Chito helped with maintenance, biology, reveg, law enforcement, and anything he could get his hands on.
Chito didn't care what time of day or night it was much less what task was at hand, he was always prepared and ready to go to work. As a Wildland Firefighter and Arson Investigator, Chito had the opportunity to work with many different agencies and departments both valley wide and nationwide. Chito is loved and well known, a man that is full of heart and the glue for many projects , programs and peers.
Chito retired form US Fish and Wildlife Service in 2018 and was based out of the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge in Alamo, Texas. He enjoys fishing, hunting and loves spending time with his beloved wife Gaby, son and grandchildren.
In November 2020, Chito was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. After being checked by a local gastroenterologist, he was referred to MD Anderson Hospital in Houston. At MD Anderson in a subsequent MRI, a second speck was found in his liver. After a biopsy, it was determined the pancreatic cancer had spread to his liver and he was diagnosed at stage IV. The prognosis is not what we had hoped for, but we believe through the power of prayer, faith and hope along with aggressive treatment, Chito will beat the cancer. Chito will walk away cancer free and continue to enjoy his retirement with his loved ones, friends and family.
The funds being raised will help with trips to MD Anderson, prescription, meals, hotel rooms and countless medical bills that will undoubtedly be coming his way.
We hope you find it in your heart to help us raise money for Chito. If you cannot assist us at this time monetarily, we completely understand.
Please help us by sharing this post so others can hear of his story. We also ask that you continue to pray for our friend.
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10
