Chicago DJ Launches Chi-Rhythm Radio to Preserve Steppin’ Music & Inspire the Next Generation

Chi-Rhythm Radio is a community-driven platform dedicated to preserving and sharing the culture of Chicago stepping and soulful music—connecting people through rhythm, heritage, and story.

What happens when a platform is created to amplify culture, community, and the next generation of voices?

Founded by Chicago DJ Slique Riq, Chi-Rhythm Radio is building more than a station—it’s creating a space where stories are told, voices are heard, and legacy is preserved.

As Chi-Rhythm Radio continues to grow, we are now entering the next phase—deepening our impact and expanding access to culturally rooted programming for our community.

We are raising $10,000 to purchase essential studio equipment, support live programming, and cover key setup and outreach efforts. These resources will allow Chi-Rhythm Radio to serve the community more fully, offering consistent, high-quality programming that reflects the sound, spirit, and legacy of Chicago.

As we grow, additional support will help us reach more listeners, expand community-based programming, and create greater access to opportunities for youth and emerging voices.

But this is just the beginning.

Our long-term vision is to establish a dedicated studio space as a hub for live broadcasting, community engagement, and media education. In the meantime, Chi-Rhythm Radio will partner with local community organizations, schools, and venues to bring this programming directly into the community—ensuring workshops, live experiences, and training opportunities are accessible even before a permanent space is secured. Through hands-on workshops and initiatives like Inside Our Melanated Legacy™ by Chi-Rhythm Radio, Chicagoland youth will learn how to research, produce, and share powerful stories that reflect culture, history, and lived experiences.

This work is rooted in a commitment to preserving Chicago’s stepping culture, uplifting community voices, and creating pathways for the next generation to be seen and heard.

All proceeds from this campaign will go directly toward supporting this community-centered mission and the continued development of Chi-Rhythm Radio.
