Chip's Teefers
Hey! I'm a cat owner. In March of this year I took my 1-year-old, Chip, to the vet for a regular checkup. The vet is the Cat Hospital of Fort Myers, with Dr. Matthew Gatof. And he was diagnosed with Stomatitis. It's a rare condition in cats, especially young cats, that causes irritation and swelling in the back of the throat. The vet went out of his way to show me the redness and irritation. In order to help him, I have to have his back teeth pulled. My vet assured me that it is extreme to pull his teeth for any reason, but this is an extreme situation. His throat could swell up and prevent him from breathing, or eating, if it gets bad enough. It's progress is slow, so I thought I'd have more time, but when I went again for his rabies shot last week, it's already progressing. The surgery would cost $1200. I will handle any other extra costs but. I just had to take on a new bill, and I'm supposed to be saving to move. And his stomatitis is getting worse. I can't wait. I need help. I did look into pet insurance, but they said they wouldn't cover him because he was diagnosed before I sought them out, so it's considered a "pre-existing" condition. My mom wants me to put him down, but I'm still grieving my old man, that I just had to put down last February. He's just a baby, he's only a year old. I have him on pain meds but that's just to keep him comfortable. Please help me give my baby boy a chance at a long, quality life. Losing him would destroy me.
