Is there an Art to Asking?
I am asking for donations so Chip Perry can be transported from Mission Hospital in California to the VA in Boston, Massachusetts.
I never thought I would be in a situation to ask for help of this kind, but this is a crisis. Almost a month ago, the love of my life got hit by a truck. He suffered a severe traumatic brain injury, in addition to a number of other physical injuries. He has been receiving excellent care at Mission Hospital, and his mother and I can see that he’s making progress. I am so grateful that Chippy’s mom, Marie flew out within a few days of the accident.
Chippy receives his medical care through the VA, and his doctors have determined that it’s time to move him from Mission to the VA. Chippy’s mom really wants to move him to the VA in Boston because it’s a highly rated facility, and they have a brain injury center. Also, Chippy’s doctors here advise that it's important for him to be with close family and friends to aid in his recovery. He doesn't have anyone in California except for me.
In an instance, our life as we knew it was over. Chippy had moved out to California to start a new life with me last December. We had been high school sweethearts, and we had recently reconnected. He got a job he loved, and we enjoyed our simple life together: exploring southern California, taking walks on the beach, or just hanging out at home with our recently rescued dog.
Although I will miss Chippy a great deal while he’s in Boston, I know that this move will help his memory and his overall recovery.
We would appreciate any amount you can donate to help with the cost for the medical air transport. The VA covers all of Chippy's medical expenses but they won't cover the cost of his transportation to Boston. We've been told the price to transport Chippy is approximately $30,000.
Thank you for your support.
