Recently my father Chip Singleton was rushed to the hospital after vomiting for over a week straight. Once he received medical care, they discovered his liver, heart, and kidneys were in failure. This extremely difficult news was then followed up by him becoming unresponsive and needing to be put on life support. He was showing signs of progress initially but ultimately his body did not respond well to dialysis. After 2 weeks of being in ICU the doctors informed us that his condition was terminal and instead of receiving treatment, they could only manage his pain. As a daughter this has been my worst nightmare, watching my dads body fail him and knowing he won’t get better. For those of you who know my dad, you will know he is extremely optimistic and always has a smile on his face. Growing up my brother and I watched him be so passionate about singing and doing karaoke. He is the type of person to do anything he can to help others never expecting anything in return. These memories of him are the ones I will always remember and carry with me. His recent diagnosis was extremely unexpected and it now falls on my brother and I to help with medical bills and funeral expenses. After taking care of us it is now our turn to take care of him.
