Chimney Fire Leaves Family Home in Ruins
Donation protected
I never ask anyone but my mom for help. I would rather give you everything that I have than help myself. I'm embarrassed to ask, but I need help. The home that I own in Fairfield, Maine, was severely damaged due to a chimney fire. I live 40 feet from our fire station. It took almost 25 minutes to start water. I could hear the fire coming up the chimney; it was on the first floor. I was screaming and begging for water to be started. Everyone thought it was smoke; no one would listen to me screaming, "It's fire, it's fire, start the water!" Twenty-five minutes for water. I'm devastated more and more every day. This home was the last place I saw my dad, my meme sat in the windows every day waiting for my visit, I brought kids home here, my brother brought his children home here, and it's my granddaughter's first home. I need to rebuild and please, I need help. I will take contractors, cleaners, plumbers, electricians, building materials—whatever anyone can help with. This home is not just a house; it's our home.
