Chili’s Medical Expenses

Hey guys, My names Rebecca and my boyfriend (Nolan) and I have a beautiful calico kitty named Chili Bean who recently has been starting to get sicker and sicker. We’ve taken her to the emergency vet and from what they’ve told us, she has hyperthyroidism, this was about 700$ for the tests they could do for her at that moment, but they’ve also said it could be connected to her kidneys. From this, we’ve been told that she needs to start taking medication which is 2 pills every day and they are not even sure if that is the correct dosage. This means we have to keep going back every 3-4 weeks and get constant test to determine how rapid this is for her. For a months worth of pills it is about 70$ and each visit is about 500$. She’s been slowly declining and now has a limp which will also have to be examined at her next appointment which will cost more than her usual appointments. She’s only 9 years old and a fun loving kitty who used to love playing with her toys but we don’t see that much anymore. I personally have had her for just over 5 years and has been with me through most of my toughest battles in life and means the absolute world to me. She’s just not really herself anymore. If she were to pass, we also don’t really have the money to help her go in the best way, and with her being in pain, I’d like to make it as painless as possible.

UPDATE: After her appointment on September 17th she has no been diagnosed with osteoarthritis which will include more medications that we need to get. She also now has been transferred to thyroid diet which is a special diet where the dry food is 60$ a bag and her wet food is 5$ a can (120$ for 24). She also has had her teeth checked out which is COHAT: Stage 4 which means she’s in the farthest stage for her teeth. She really needs surgery and alone this costs 2000$

Being that Nolan and I are pretty young into our 20’s and the cost of living, it is really hard to keep up with the care for her and the care for ourselves but we want to be able to do anything we can to help out our fur baby.
