Chili Dog and Flood - Emergency expenses
Donation protected
Those of you that know me well would never expect me to ask for help. I consider myself to be very fortunate and pride myself on my independence and capability. This week has offered many challenges and to continue moving forward I could use your help.
Chili Dog had a tumor on spleen that ruptured and caused severe internal bleeding into his abdomen. I had taken him to the vet a week earlier and was told that his symptoms were from arthritis and hip dysplasia, which I knew was completely wrong. It was an extremely hard decision, with Chili Dog’s age, whether I should put him through the surgery or not. After multiple discussions with the surgeon we went forward. He is a strong boy and recovering at my parents house because my house is not a safe place for him to be.
Less than 8 hours after Chili’s surgery the water from the Sinclair Inlet was quite literally knocking at my door. This flood was not caused by the high tide, but rather a freak combination of severe rain/snow melt/ tide/ and high winds. I am fortunate enough to have flood insurance, however, I have a $10,000 deductible.
Below is a short list of reasons I am asking for help at this point:
- $6000 expenses related to Chili Dog (decision made less than 12hrs before flooding)
- $10,000 flood deductible
- No coverage for personal items in the house on flood policy
- No assistance for temporary housing through FEMA because I’m not in a declared disaster area
- Insurance won’t pay for a hotel or other housing
- No working shower, fridge, stove etc.
- Starting to pay contractors today out of pocket.
- Insurance Adjuster won’t be here until Monday!!!
- Hoping to start purchasing appliances this weekend to make the house easier to live in
I appreciate all of my friends and family so much. Everyone has stepped up to help in any way that they can. Thank you all for loving me so much. ❤️
