Childs Family Fund

Beschermde donatie
To explain why this gofundme was started I have included a couple of updates Jessica has made on her page.   Brian Childs was diagnosed with Covid and has been hospitalized for some time.  Today he was transferred to Vanderbilt.  We are hoping to raise money for personal and medical expenses. Jessica, Brian, and their family are a God loving family and are relying on Him for his ultimate healing. If your heart says to donate, I know the family would appreciate anything given. We request that everyone pray for Brian’s healing. The following is her first post followed by the most recent as of the creation of the account. We appreciate anything and may God have the glory!!

From Jessica:

Shouting out to all my prayer warriors. Some of you know that Covid has affected several people in our family. First my mom, then Gavin, then me and Brian. Brian Childs has been hit the hardest.

Just an update: he went to the ER last Sunday feeling really bad. This was about 6 days into his diagnosis. He was still having a lot of coughing, some SHortness of breath, and overall fatigue. They did a chest X-ray and determined he did have a small spot of pneumonia and sent him home after fluids with nausea meds and an antibiotic. After he got home which was 6 Monday morning he slept a little while and then got up feeling a lot better. They had given him a steroid shot and I think he must have been on a steroid high. Tuesday morning he woke up violently vomiting. He then went back to the ER and was given fluids and then sent back home. On Wednesday morning he was still vomiting which had went on all night. His fever had returned and he had a horrible headache. He went back to the ER and they changed his antibiotic and gave him a different form of nausea meds and was sent home. They said he had gastritis and that he needed to try his best to keep down even little sips of water. That night he had been puking/dry heaving all day. Had not been able to keep down even water from ice chips. I took him back to the ER that night. After sitting in the parking lot for 5 hours they decided to admit him. On Thursday his vomiting had calmed down a little. He was able to consume some soup and jello. On Friday morning I called to check on him and the respiratory team was in his room. He had declined over night. They thought it would be best to transfer him to ICU where he would have eyes on him around the clock. He is on high flow oxygen, antivirals, antibiotics, and plasma. We serve an awesome God and I know he can heal his body. We would like everyone to join together and please pray for his healing. This virus is big and unpredictable but our God is bigger. As of 10/22/2020 Update: Brian Childs was successfully air lifted to Vandy yesterday afternoon. The physician said travel was very smooth and he settled into his room well. I spoke with a nephrologist who is now up to date on everything that has taken place since the day he was diagnosed. Tonight I was updated by the NP on the floor. She said he is stable today. No crazy changes and he is in the shape she expects him to be at this point in his journey. They were able to turn down his vent settings some so he is using about a moderate amount of the vent and a moderate amount of the Ecmo machine. She said these patients will have a couple of good days and then maybe a bad one. So there is room for change within both machines ( if he needs more support ). He did have some bleeding in his esophagus which she said could have been from the initial intubation. So they held his blood thinner until today. Now the blood seems old from his esophagus so they restarted his blood thinner at a low dose. She said his potassium level is now within normal limits and he is still on meds to raise his blood pressure but not as much. They will just have to play with the blood pressure until they figure out what works best. I know Wednesday he had a bacterial infection in his blood. They drew blood cultures last night and after 24 hours they have had no growth... praise GOD. They do have to wait about 72 hours to definitively say that they are clean. He is still getting antibiotics to cover the infections that he could potentially have in his lungs and blood. She said he is comfortable, in no pain. She said that when they get to the point of retesting him for Covid he would need to have two negatives and then he could move to the regular ICU and then as he gets better move to a regular room. Or move from Covid ICU to a regular room. She has seen it go both ways. She reiterated that this is a long road. Just keep praying ‍♀️. Thanks to everyone for most of all the prayers. I am so grateful for the outpouring of calls, texts, and encouraging words that I have received. The Gofundme has also been such a blessing. I am thankfully working but not sure when I will have to up and take off while this is going on. We will just take this a day at a time❤️❤️
