Bare Bones Drama is a vibrant community theatre company based in Friern Barnet, North London.
Our weekly workshops are open to members aged 4 upwards. Each session is tailored to the group, whether that’s our youngest Little Bare Bones members, Children’s Theatre groups, Youth Theatre or Adult Community Theatre Company. We create a safe, relaxed environment that encourages our members to explore their imaginations, play, collaborate, devise and create theatre. The emphasis is firmly on fun. This shared experience promotes self-expression, self-confidence, social interaction and empathy. And ultimately, productions that our membership have ownership of. It is empowering for all involved.

Bare Bones relies solely on membership fees to keep running, meaning we never have the luxury of a good budget for things like set and costume. However, we have been incredibly fortunate to have worked with parent and in-house artist/creative/designer Victoria Riedl, who, over the years, has managed to conjure up simple yet beautiful sets and costumes at very little financial cost (time and energy are another thing however….)

This year, for our annual children’s show we have the opportunity to join forces with a wonderful local artist, Acktarr Khedoo. Ackarr worked with us back in 2015 when he designed and created our ‘Happy Machine’, an incredible creation which was developed with our children’s theatre for our show The Young Inventors’ Club.

We are really excited to be able to collaborate once again with Acktarr for this summer’s children’s show entitled Alexia’s Monsters.
But in order to so this, we need to raise funds!

So, we have set our children’s theatre members a Monologue Challenge! Over the coming weeks, our children’s theatre members will rehearse a number of short fun monologues- this will be a new skill for many of our members. But as always, it will also be a lot of fun!
Each member who decides to take on the challenge will be asking family and friends to sponsor them.
The challenge will end with a performance to the group. And hopefully our target amount which will pay for resources and the time needed to build our set and make our costumes.
