help children with learning difficulties & autism

In brief, I am Running the London marathon 2024 to help raise as much money as possible for charities that help children and their families with learning difficulties and autism.

In more detail.....

In 2020, when the world was already facing unprecedented challenges, my wife and I faced one of our biggest challenges.

We never thought we'd need help - but when our Autistic daughter became a recluse, wouldn't leave her room, get dressed, couldn't be part of the family and was causing conflict with her brother and with us, we didn't know what to do. But specialist charities helped picked up the pieces with amazing care and support.

Move forward to 2024 and they all still continue to help us today. Our daughter is doing really well, but she still has many struggles with her day to day life. And our son is also facing his own challenges now, being diagnosed with ADHD and ODD .

I can't even begin to explain how hard life can be sometimes. From the moment we wake up to the moment we go to bed...it feels like a constant battle - But thanks to the help we receive, we are equipped to cope better and manage the difficulties the whole family faces every day .

We didn't think we'd ever need help, but we did. In fact 1 in 4 people will need the help from charities like the ones we used in the next three years, and I'm sure they are supporting someone you know.

Running the London Marathon is the biggest challenge I have ever set myself . I've never run anywhere near that distance and as it stands right now, I'm not fit enough. But With a £2000 target that I have commited to raising, I'll be devoting to training for race day in April 2024 , making sure I can do all I can to smash my target, finish the race and most importantly , raise vital funds for children with learning difficulties and autism
