Children With Hair Loss Fundraiser
Donation protected
Hello! We are Rachel and Aaron. Together we've been growing our hair for 6.5 years (combined) to donate to children with hair loss due to illness. In addition to donating our locks, we want to fundraise $1,800. Why $1,800? Because it costs $1,800 for one hair system. So when we donate hair, we are sponsoring a child so they don't have to wait for additional funding before they can have their wig.
When hair is donated to organizations that provide free wigs, it still costs money to make the wig. One wig takes 15 ponytails and costs $1,800. Help us sponsor a complete Hair Replacement System for a full year by contributing to our fundraising goal of $1,800. Our funding and hair will go to the Michigan-based organization Children with Hair Loss. When, and only when we meet our goal, will we take the plunge and donate over 24 inches of hair (combined), along side your generous donations for one complete hair system to Children with Hair Loss. You can read more about them at http://www.childrenwithhairloss.us.
Here are a few reasons why we chose this organization:
1. They don't charge recipients for wigs.
2. They are a national company, so they serve more children than a locally based program.
3. Children up to age 21 are eligible as long as they can prove medical need (loss of hair due to chemotherapy, radiation therapy, Alopecia, Trichotillomania, burns and other medical issues).
4. Our hair meets the qualifications for this organization, so it is more likely that it will actually be used for a wig and not thrown away.
5. This organization received a good charity review on give.org and silver level status on Guidestar, an information service specializing in reporting on U.S. nonprofit companies. You can view their report at http://www.guidestar.org/profile/38-3537982.
